I can never understand the tag "720p" when mostly every 720p release is not 720p.
It's basically the same as their other lower-res TS of this. Higher resolution but the same issues apply... Dark scenes are lost in a sea of jet black and dark blue. Audio is mostly ok except for the occasional pop or crackle.
Overall it's pretty watch-able but nothing stunning. Widescreen format = less horizontal pixels, but still considered the "720p" native resolution. You can nit pick and call it "544p" but that just doesnt make sense.
1280 x 720p full screen, but the Widescreen is generally going to be less horizontal because a 720p native display will not display if the 720 is in less of an area, therefore 1280x544... Hope this makes sense. Basically you cant fit 720 horizontal lines in a smaller area, a bar at top & bottom of the video is still part of the TV's native max resolution this version isnt even as good as the standard resolution Cowboys.and.Aliens.2011.TS.XviD.AC3-Rx .. so for a 3GB download its a waste in my opinion, I think Rx have done a better job with the sharpening and brightness filters.
Its strange to think that this film is about a cheese slice that becomes a alien cowboy with piles isnt it?
That is rather silly. 1280x544. is not 720p, it is 544p. Having a native 1280x720 telly, playing this movie will have padding at the top and bottom, so it surely shouldn't be tagged 720p.
Nit pick or not, it is still not 720p. It is like buying a telly that is tagged "full HD 1080p" to find out it's 980p. You'd be pissed off! :) "Posted by: theoneofgod

I'm not complaining, just don't understand how they are all tagged 1080p, 720p, but most of the time 1080p's are 800p, and 720p are 544p, doesn't make any sense.
^That's because of the black borders. If you included the black borders then you would be much closer to the full quoted resolution... But that would be pointless (encoding black) wouldn't it? And you can't simply remove the borders and just "add" resolution to the remaining image because you'd fuck the aspect ratio up.
Or in other words... Generally when the vertical resolution isn't what the source is, it's because the borders have been removed. Meanwhile... Back on topic :) |
