Saw it today at the cinema (basic 2D version - partly because that's all that was available at the local cinema but also partly because I've seen some pretty poor reviews of the 48fps version). I enjoyed it more than LOTR which was just too fucking boring for the most part for me. The Hobbit has similar lulls in the story but it's mitigated by some decent visual gags and the odd joke so I didn't feel the urge to do a crossword half way through.

Overall - good, but I think Jacksons hubris got in the way.

just saw it too(2d)....the story was changed immensely and tons of shit added...some was good...im glad the subplot to lotr was added but some shit just looked like filler to stretch a trilogy out of a 250 page book....i liked it but then again i was always a fantasy genre geek

I saw it in 48fps but didn't notice the difference. It's a long movie, too much I'd say.
