I was never a big fan of load/reload when they came out, I think I was listening to newer bands around the time (Machine Head, Snot, One Minute Silence, SoaD) but I can listen to those albums now and enjoy them for what they are, rock albums but not thrash like their early stuff.
That snippet sounds promising but it's hard to judge what the new album will sound like, they should release a single before Reading/Leeds then play the song live. I remember way back at Donington '95 they played '2x4' and it didn't go down too well as no one had heard it before, I also remember James having a really bad mullet that day.
What I'm hoping for from the new album is some hi-tempo songs that don't go into a halftime feel once the intro finishes and a few long-ass solos with a decent structure, which Kirk was known for, solos like 'Creeping Death' & 'Shortest Straw'. I hope he cuts back a bit on the wah as well, I like wah solo's but he over used it on the black album. Saying that, any kind of solo will be nice compared to the absense of them on St. Anger.
I'm happy Rick Rubin is producing the album, he's worked on some of my favourite heavy/thrash albums so I'm pretty confident he'll get a good sound out of them, but it's up to band to deliver some good tunes as well.
