We fixed our Search.
2012-08-01 08:47:28

Thanks to our new programmer, AVDHulst (more info coming), we fixed our search!

For those interested; the problem lay in our Sphinx Configuration and our search query. Quite simply the sphinx configuration did not weight the entries properly and the search query would cut off the proper search results because of the LIMIT + year filter. The proper search results would lie outside of the LIMIT and the search results returned would not have the proper year to show up.

This is why releases with general naming would often fail, searching on general words such as "ice", "for", "over" etc. This has all now been fixed and you can enjoy a working search again!

Thanks AVDHulst!

Sure used to love VCD quality, seems like fewer and fewer people visit now. Probably issues like this that took over eight months to address....sad but true.

why this

Can't search for three letter names like Ted? Or with at least 3 releases you have none listed. Either way. The search has always been horrible on this site. It's never taken a simple regex and removed the periods and underscores out of a name. Heck integrating google site search with the site: parameter would be a better answer than what there is now.

Can column "Date" be restored?
Posted on: 2012-09-25 16:50:44 +1 -0
doesn't work too well for me.
When typing in the search bar I get html script. The script is centralised- very odd.
I try putting in something I know has already been included in your site but when searching it doesn't find it.
Also I pressed on search most popular viewed for the hell of it and that isnt working for me.
I'm on google chrome and will recheck in internet explorer
